June (and Phil),

That was a very interesting interview. It really makes a difference when the interviewer is well versed in the subject, so you speak the same language. I have to say that Phil's New England accent was much more difficult to understand than you, June. (Let's see if I get an email from Phil on that one!)

I would think that readers of this "genre" would enjoy hearing you and Phil because the interview confirmed that you are well studied in your research for your book. There were parts of the interview where you actually sounded very much like a grad school professor. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that you are a guest lecturer at universities for graduate student level courses before you are finished with this journey. If that is the case, and you come to the States...be sure they add Arizona State University to your schedule. I'm sure it will be way over my head, but I'll be there nonetheless.

Well done to both you and Phil.

Graduate level lecturer - I have never even been to university myself, but you never know, at least one review has recommended the book for those studying such subjects.

It was though a really good experience, and although my heart was pounding all the way through, because I was conscious of the fact that it is live, and I am not so well versed with American audiences and what you can and cannot say, having listened to it, I must say that I do sound really impressive and knowledgeable.

I do not do late nights though - never have been able to stay up late, so I was absolutely dog tired yesterday (what a strange expression that is). Have made up for it now though.

And thank you Phil for having me - if that invite still stands for the autumn (sorry, fall), then you know where I am ...

June,

From the Western States, it sounded perfectly fine for an American audience. You sounded like a seasoned interviewee. It really does make a difference when you are interviewed by someone who can ask the right questions and understand your answers.

Sometimes the universe is a better teacher than the university. I learned a lot at the university, but I'd say, I didn't learn everything there. Some of my best teachers never attended, some did. So, don't let that be a concern. Keep your focus on the truer things.

I certainly will, and I want to say once again just how much I really do value your friendship, support and encouragement. I don't forget that it was you who introduced me to Phil in the first place, and you who was also the first American to buy my book.

I think you are right though about the universe being the better teacher, it's just that well, university lecturers have a reputation for being droll and dry, and I am neither of these two things. Mind you, after reading the questions for the religious studies A'Level that I was invigilating this morning, the answers for which I would have loved to have read, I am thinking that maybe I could do an open university degree in that subject. I could easily have answered most of those questions today, although not necessarily in the way that they would expect !

You're welcome, June, for any contribution I made.

There are many brilliant and stimulating minds at the universities. Some have let the light burn dim, but most are inspiring.

You will quickly learn to answer test questions thus, "This school of thought believes this; that school of thought believes that; I have come to believe _______." And you will learn which professors welcome the third piece.

Go forth...

Guess you are right - maybe I will talk to some of the teachers at the school I am invigilating at and see what they think ?

There is a link on my home page, and you can listen to it from there. If you have problems though, all the files are available to either listen to or download from Phil's (or rather the stations) own site at http://www.internetvoicesradio.com/phil.htm

Page down until where it says past shows and then click the link where it lists my name. The show aired on June 11th, and it is currently the second one from the top. Happy listening !

The first edition was published on June 17, 2006 just over a year ago, and the new, updated edition came out in May, just over a month ago now. The second edition came about largely because of the need to change the cover, since it seemed to attract a somewhat negative response from most book buyers that it was shown to. Since I was changing the cover, and with POD it is relatively inexpensive to make textual changes as well, then it made sense to do this at the same time, since given the subject matter, new information is constantly coming to light. It made sense then to make it a second, updated edition.

I am already seeing a very positive difference in sales and peoples perception of the book with the new cover, so I hope it will soon pay for itself ! It has had four reviews in the last month and the radio appearance, so things are slowly beginning to happen. I am also going to be a case study in the next edition of the Self Publishing magazine, one of the magazines who reviewed it (they said it was the antitheseis of the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins). They like to print two or three case studies of successful self published authors in each edition, and since I contacted them to thank them for the review, they asked me to write something... I sent it off last week, and it will be published in September I think.

That's incredible. I haven't been active on here more than a week, so I don't really know you (as well as you can get to know a person online), but I'm still really excited for you. How did you get into that subject? It sounds fascinating.

It is a lifelong interest really - my father was a scientist, so I must have always had an enquiring mind. I am also a triple water sign, have long been interested in what makes people tick and what has shaped the way that we as humans have evolved.

The book began completely by accident though. I was studying to become a crystal therapist back in 2001, and as part of the course we were asked to write a thesis to be presented to the rest of the group, to gain experience at talking. I wrote mine on crystal skulls, which I was and still am fasicnated by (I am actually the guardian of quite a few of these fascinating objects). As time went on and I began to write, I started to find lots of links with other areas of interest - the Knights Templar and the various other Gnostic schools, Atlantis, Lemuria etc. This in turn led me to Egypt and Mesopotamia (I studied the history of both places for a year while I was writing the book, and also human origins (evolution etc), and eventually the origins of Christianity itself, until the book came full circle back toe Gnosticism and modern spirituality (the core beliefs are actually remarkably similar). It was then a process of finding and learning all this information and then piecing it together, a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.

When I look back on it and read bits of the book, I am constantly amazed at the depth of the work that I did and the things that I discovered. It is like reading someone else's work, and I still find it hard to believe that I could have written something like that. I don't take all the credit though, as I had a lot of help along the way from an awful lot of people, who have been wonderful teachers and friends, especially my partner Coran, who kept me going many times when I came close to deleting the whole thing. I am glad that I didn't and persevered and made the decision to self publish, as I have learnt such a lot from that process. It's incredible really when I look back on it all, sometimes it feels like a dream ....

It's amazing you've gone that far after self-publishing. I know enough about it to know that you have work a lot harder than you would published by a publishing house. That's so terrific. I'm definitely going to look into the book.

Well, thank you for that. All the links are on my site !! I like to think that I am a self publishing success story, but don't pretend that it has been very hard work, and I have a long way to go yet ...
