Starting Online Magazine
« on: May 07, 2007, 07:44:03 PM »
I have been considering starting up a website which is basically a magazine split into various sections.. and if I do manage to get one started, maybe some of the MWC members could participate?
It's just an idea at the moment.. but what do you guys think?  I would take care of the web and graphic design, but I doubt I could do ALL of the writing by myself! Of course, I would also appreciate those with specialisms etc..and we're an international bunch - so that will provide more variety in itself.

I was considering one section to deal with fiction writing etc.. but the majority to deal with editorial and features.  It will take a lot of planning initially; any ideas would be more than welcome.

If you need me, I'm there. I'll do anything. Write & Proofread article, anything else which I can't think of at the moment.

thanks thatollie.. appreciate it.  You're on my list of those to bother later! :)

Oh, and I would be interested in peoples' ideas for titles.. As for the target audience.. well, I want it to be as universal as possible.. don't want to appeal to showbiz news seekers however. I'm hoping the articles will be insightful, news-like, cultural, political, satirical perhaps..as well as creative and diverse.  No age restriction of course. Aiming to appeal to a wide audience really...though I do want this magazine to have something unique about it... have to think more about it though... I am hoping to come up with some very original ideas to make it stand out.

It sounds interesting. I would like to help as well, with the writing. I could also design some graphics for the website if you'd like.

Hi HT and candy floss..your input would be more than welcome :)..let's see what we can come up with..
I think what I might do is get a site map drawn up along with some ideas for a home page..and then we can get together on further ideas and what else can be done hopefully.
Oh and HT, love your art work..that is another thing that can be on the site..a section dedicated to art and design etc.  I will certainly be grateful for any help in that areas as well..

Need a working title still...

Sounds like a great idea. My partner, who is a website designer has recently taken over the site for a well known magazine here in the UK, so if you need someone to design it for you, I can definately recommend him ! Once you have a clearer idea of articles I would be more than happy to contirbute as well. Just let me know what you will be looking for.

Thank you, June.. I may well take you up on your recommendation.
For the moment, I'm playing about with it to get an idea of what style it will be and will need to expand on it. And of course, everyone's welcome to contribute.

Currently trying out different design ideas for the moment.. will upload examples when I have enough done for opinions etc.

Glad you like my work, I'm going to be working on improving it even more over the summer, too. :D This magazine of yours could turn out to be a really fun project, I think.

Assuming that something is productive and not, say, just a bunch of people sitting round eating sandwiches. All that comes of that is a full stomach.
