Say Joe, roughly how many words in your short stories? Congratulations by the way.

Thanks, Trev. My shortest published story is about 250 words, the longest just over 7000.
I prefer stories just over 4000 words.

Open mic session.............there were no prizes to win just a chance to get up and read your stuff. So somewhat nervous I did.......and it was great. Smokey and boozey but well worth it, I thought the 5-10 minutes would be much too long but in fact I found I was just warming up, read some stuff, made up some stuff as I went along.

Takes guts to get up in front of folks and read your own works.

certainly does Skip and/or a skinful of beer  ;D

I used to do it more often, open mics/Poetry Slams. This was the  first time for a couple of years I reckon. It is another way of seeing various reactions to what one writes.

Thanks Joe, interesting.

Vienna me old duck, when the writing is good people usually enjoy listening to it, if it's bad they will let you know.

Years ago I wrote a couple of short plays for our amateur dramatic soc, the first one  called B&B got loads of laughs, mainly because all the props were in place and some great acting.

The second one was for young children called The Trevini Twins--ONE OF
Unfortunately it was never shown, so I'm not sure how that one would have been received.

I gained Experience from not reading the small print.

Well done. Lots of writers never take that vital step.  :)

I reckon (at least speaking for myself) one has to do it. I like to see myself as a performer, and if anybody heckles I just take the piss..........seem to soon shut up ;D ;D

I agree it takes guts. I haven't gone to a writer's conference because sitting across from an agent terrifies me.  :o  Though I'm working on it.  On a side note, I won a pitch contest and got to send my query and first five to an agent who's usually closed to queries.  ;D

That's brilliant. Congrats and best of luck.

Ben Baldwin. Apparently he's been nominated a few times for fantasy type book covers etc.

Can't wait to get my contributor's copy.  :)

Got an acceptance from Indigo Rising Magazine. The story has been published online, but the editor mentioned something about
it making it into their print version later this year.  :)
