Best example I can think of is Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. Wish it was around when I was a kid.

Just got word of my 23rd short story publication. It's already up on the website at The New Flesh.
I was going for a 70's Dr. Who type feel to the story. It's always about global warming and the end of the world etc.

Hope you like it.  ;)  And please feel free to comment on their page. The best stories at the end of the year tend to be put in an anthology.
