Well, it's now official. I've achieved my goal for the year of reaching 10 published short stories.
As of this morning I'm standing on 12. FlashesintheDark.com has published my story Higher Learning.

Next year my goal will be to get into the semi-professional markets and magazines as well
as start working on the first novel. Can't wait.

Thanks for everyone at MWC who helped me along the way. You are all very special people.  :)

Higher Learning can be read here.
Please feel free to comment on the website.

Does getting Google to admit that I was right and they were wrong count as a success?   ;)

My goal as a writer was stated a few years ago when I decided I was bored, lying in a hospital bed with nothing to do.

It is to write the perfect words when combined with the imagination of a reader that allows one to get lost in a world of the mind, to escape reality, if only for a little while. To cause them to be late to work or to bed. To maybe say at it's ending, "Well done."
Sorry, I have no grand enlightenment, nor wish to replace Stephen King or Ernest Hemingway.

These would be my so called successes:

Self-Published on Smashwords is my collection of 5 humorous western shorts done from a ranchers want-to-be-an-author point of view in 1860. The Writings of one Jeremiah Lewis is available there and Barns & Noble and the other places they use as an E-book outlet. Took this down---B&N kept listing it as a children's book. It isn't.

Out last night is SQ Magazine Vol 2 which has a different western short of mine in it called Bushwhack Mountain. Avalible through Amazon.com and .uk as well as Barns&Noble

A fantasy (Yes, dragons, elves, dwarfs, fairies, and even Orc's.  :D) is in E-book form, called Circle of Seven, the publishers web addy is http://ifwgpublishing.weebly.com/ebook-shop.html

It is available now at Barns and Nobel : http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Circle-of-Seven/MF-Burbaugh/e/2940012166647/

Also at Amazon.com and .uk

Print version available at: http://ifwgpublishing.weebly.com/bio-mf-burbaugh.html  Soon at the rest.

To round out the group is a full SciFi/fantasy Novel, already contracted, and undergoing cover design. Due out soon and tentatively called We were Legends.

A SciFi Short called Quiet is The Night looks like it has been accepted for SQ Mag Vol 3.

Congratulations, Skip!

I did have a book published last year, a scifi psychological thriller called, The Empire. Now, the goal is to have more than a handful of people read it...or to learn to tap dance. I know which one would be easier...

Believe it or not I may have that sitting on my Kindle file waiting to be read.  ??? Not sure, it is on the other computer.

Update: I do have it, sorry been slow on my reading of it.

The foot is in the door, how far you can get it to open is on you. :) However, if it slams to hard, your tap dancing could be over.

Oh, had a change to mine as well. Circle of Seven is going to print as well as E-Book. Go figure.
