It's all experience, and others might not hear it the same way as you did anyway. Most of us hate the sound of our own voices ...

Casey Quinn, Editor of a new magazine has asked me to be a fortnightly contributor of micro stories. It's my first success so far and I don't know where this may lead. It's exciting though. ;D

AB of Seattle has received a 'yes' to our offer to publish the images and story of Elena Filatova, sometimes known better in Russia as 'Kid of Speed'. That's because she likes to drive her Kawasaki Ninja through the 'dead zones' in and around Chernobyl and take pictures. (Don't worry, she always carries a hand-held Geiger counter.) But it's her observations about the whole thing that set her apart from others who have documented the disaster.

We're going to do her book in A-4 size, because of the images. Mainstream release, no Lulu stuff.

You can see a very interesting article (with pictures) about the infamous Kid of Speed over at <a href="http://adventurebooks.newsvine.com/_news/2008/07/22/1685484-elena-takes-a-trip-to-chernobyl-part-1-of-2-background/">Straight Talk</a>.

Midnightcandle? Micro-stories? This is good.

He (the editor) isn't even asking for high word count stuff, so you can do art for him. I'm not bad at the short stuff. My advice is: write as long as you need, then start cutting afterward. Works pretty good that way because you already have the beginning, the middle, character(s), a story, and an ending. After that it's just a matter of squeezing the whole thing into a tight little package.

Dead right. It's harder getting it tight but fun all the same.

Congratulations, MC.  A regular slot is always good.  It keeps a writer on his toes and it keeps the 'writing muscle' supple and ready to work.

I have a short piece of mine scheduled to appear in their 'offbeat writings' corner, due out on August 3rd.

Who will be next from MWC?

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1
