WELL DONE SARA!!!!  Frame it, send a copy to all your friends and keep a copy for your cuttings file!!!

June that just sucks!  Well done for keeping a positive frame of mind though and trying to turn it to your advantage.

My news...6 more articles commissioned today and I've sent off my book proposal to a publisher!!!  Got work booked in until August now, how cool is that!

Have been busy this afternoon then working out the cost of shipping and I have been pleasantly surprised at the relatively low cost. I measured the box that arrived with my last consignment ordered for my own use and weighed it with 5 books inside. Based on the assumption then that Gardners will order in consignments of 20 or 30 books (and I can fit 30 books at a squeeze into one of these boxes) it will cost me around 11.45 to send them back (the cost is the same as long as the box size remains the same). That works out at 57p per book for a consignment of 20 and 38 pence per book for 30. This will then almost triple my profits from the 1.39 I usually earn when sold through Gardners to 3.96 and 4.15 respectively.

They have actually then done me a favour so I have been working as hard as possible this afternoon to make sure that they go out of stock quickly, as the sooner this happens the sooner I can start to earn more money! In addition to the orders I got this morning, I have then this afternoon got four more orders from both Waterstones branches in Stafford, as well as Solihull and the Ashley centre in Epsom. This is a former Ottakars. The High Street branch (which has always been Waterstones) has been stocking my book since it was first published in the summer of 2006 but has only sold 2 as the original edition had a crap cover with less pages. Because they were firm sale and the 2 stores now share a Manager, he has been reluctant to order for the 2nd branch. He is on holiday this week though, so I seized the moment and spoke to the Assistant Manager instead, who knows nothing of this, and she has ordered some copies !

I am beginning to enjoy this then, playing the system to my advantage and almost laughing at it all. I almost wish they were sending more back now !

Sounds brill, June. I really wish you luck. BTW are you on Amazon - if so what's the title of your book?

Might have to revisit those sums unfortunately, as I remembered when I first signed with Richard I read that I could buy my own books for print cost plus 25 percent. I thought that the 25 percent referred to print cost, but later found out that it refers to cover price. I might then have to add another 1.09 to the figures I worked out yesterday then. Will know more when Richard sends me his invoice. I will still though hopefully be better off - just not as much as I hoped.

The title of my book Anthony is Genesis of Man and it is indeed on amazon (US and UK). If you go to my website and click on the image on the right, all the links are displayed.

I am wondering what is going on with Gardners and whether my hard work last weekend has won me a reprieve, since there is no more word on when the books are being sent back. I have managed to ring a few more stores since that fateful weekend, but not that many, but the number in stock keeps going down anyway. It currently stands at 130 from 159 10 days ago. My amazon rankinghas stayed the same, so I can only conclude that these must be repeat orders for stores that have sold out and need more stock.

Got a cheque for an article that has been printed (yum munny beans!)

Made up for the rather curt rejection I got from a website (knickers to them then really!)

Congrats to all!

My mystery/suspense/romance novel Lady Gabriella will be out In March of this year. Published by Blu Pheir Publishing. I am excited as the release date is nearing. Will be nervous about my first book signing though.

I have been working on my second novel: Twin Medallions. This one will be mixed genre, suspense/mystery/romance/time travel/horror, since these are some of the genres that I love.

You can check it out at www.bluphier.com

I just finished writing the final bit of Gazebo earlier! This is huge for me, because I've never finished anything halfway decent before, and it's taken me almost an entire year.

Now I get to edit it. But I wanted to mention that I finally got it done. :D

Congratulations HT ;-)  Finishing is always a significant milestone beause now you know that you can do it.  It's not just theory anymore, you know you can run the distance.  So although you've got editing and selling still ahead of you, take a short while to bask in the warm glow of satisfaction ;-)

Pleased to see that my book seems to be gaining some momentum at last - having spent the last week away from home, I was pleased to see that it has sold 5 more copies in my absence without me doing a thing ! Does this count as success ?
