Oh my.

No. A kindly, aging gentleman picked me by my toes and proclaimed me a Frenchman. Once I realized nit wasn't an insult... I took the award. It's made of tin foil, shattered dreams. Some topping.

& rather belated Aren't You Somethings to all others who've attempted such a feat.

After a week or so of not having the wherewithall to ring any book stores at all (have been feeling really up and down lately), in the past 2 days I have secured orders from 5 more stores - all Waterstones (am now up to the N's!). These are Liverpool, Llandudno, Lowestoft, Market Harborough and wait for this - the Trafford Centre in Manchester ! This is one of their largest stores, which authors from a certain other POD company, whose name I shall not divulge pay 500 to get into ! All I did though was make a 3 minute phone call !

Gardners then had 14 copies in stock when I checked this morning, which means I have sold 99 copies through them since the sor announcement was made just over a month ago. Not bad. I expect they were will be ordering some more soon then.

I am doing a talk tonight as well on my take on the God Delusion, since my book was recently reviewed as presenting the opposite view - might be interesting. Think of me at 8pm tonight then !

June,

This is unbelievable success. I don't think any POD author has had this kind of success with bookstore in the US. This is most impressive.

I'm thinking of one place in the POD media where I might mention this. Let me see what I can do. It might take a while.

I wanted to share how pleased I was that after a year of blogging about twins, triplets and more, I had been labouring away under the impression that I had 360 readers and I have looked at the figures and it's more than 4,300 returning visitors, I have had lovely feedback.

Am really chuffed - don't let all the 'nay sayers' about blogs put you off. I have written about what a year of blogging has brought me here:

http://www.freelancewritingtips.com/2007/09/how-a-year-of-b.html

As it includes interviews/commissions with national media, I am very pleased.

Thanks for reading.

Please do Nadine, anything that you can do to help would as always be very much appreciated. As you know, Jerry has already mentioned me in a couple of his newsletters, and I keep him informed as to how I am doing.

Everyone has good and bad days, and it just that last week, I had a bad week ! A lot of people I know though have been going through very similar stuff, so I know it is not just me, and that by itself makes me feel a whole lot better to know that I am not alone.

Have a 2 day mind, body and spirit festival this weekend at our local non denominational church (Coran, my partner is one of the trustees). It was very quiet today, and all I managed to sell was one book (apparently there was Rugby this afternoon, so that might explain it). I think it will though be busier tomorrow with any luck. One of the other stall holders was a lady who has recently opened a new age shop though (I actually worked for her husband/father in law many years ago, when they first met). The good news is that she wants to buy a couple of copies to put in the shop. Will hopefully clinch the deal tomorrow then.

Well done Linda as well, will get round to ordering your book this week as promised ! I have had a couple of nice emails from people this week as well about my blog, which is good, as I thought I was the only one who ever read it !

I capped off 20 consecutive writing days with 1800 words before breakfast. Who knows, I'm may have finished my novel by teatime.

And I was a winner in the WCCL Flash Fiction contest (100-worder). Extremely chuffed.

Better still, I LOVE the software that I got as a prize. The 'layout' has enabled me to plan out a story I'd had originally dropped some time ago. In three days, it's almost finished. Please wish me luck!

Oh - and I should add that I write for young children so I'm talking about 100,000 words here - just around the 5000 mark!!!

Cool! I'm impressed with people who can write flash fiction...I'm too long winded. Congratulations Symphony! Sounds like a great prize! Good luck on the next project.

Excellent ;-)  Being commissioned not only feels good but it's also a promising sign.  Striking lucky with a single 'on spec' submission is one thing, but having several articles commissioned is a sign that it's not just 'a flash in the pan'.  Someone is taking your work seriously ;-)

Well done.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

Congrats to everyone who's posted a success.
Thanks Nadine, although the teatime comment was a shade ambitious.
Should be done within the next few days though, 1 & 1/2 chapters to go.
Back to the grindstone.  ;) [If you didn't see my post about smileys, this means Overcaffeinated/Twitchy]

EDIT

It started on the 6th of February 2006.
I quit, 3 times.
Twice, I thought it might be publishable.
But on the 25th of September 2007
I finished my novel. DONE.
I can't recall how many times I've said/written/typed that word, "Done"
in the 30 minutes since I finished.
One happy boy.

June,

This is a well respected group in the US indie book industry. Try this link. http://www.independentpublisher.com/share-story.php  I suggest to browse their website first. In one of my newsletters, Kip was featured by these people. Can I find it, nooooo. I'll keep looking.

The person I know there is in another division, but this link (above) should help get the ball rolling. Also, you could email Kip for info (his contact info is in my newsletter, plus he is a MWC member). Use my name with Kip. Good luck for a feature with IP.
