Hello
because of your encouragement I am adding my success too.
I have just had my first article accepted it is due to be published in the army families journal in the winter. I was really surprised because it is only the first article I have written and was my second assignment in the writers bureau course so I had not expected to get an acceptance first time.
i am floating on cloud nine at the moment.

On my birthday (yesterday, 19th) I got TWO fabulous presents!

1: I have been working on my life story and sent it off to a publisher. This is their reply after weeks of waiting!

One Step At A Time  has peeked our interests. Can you send us the full manuscript for review? Let us know if this is possible as the story thus far is compelling.

2: I applied to write an electronic guide on womens fashion. Again, after a longish wait. I got this reply:

We are pleased to confirm our acceptance of your proposed self help guide

BOTH on my birthday!!!!!

Which publisher did you send it to? I ask, because they mispelled piqued as peeked in their response to you and now I'm curious if they're what they seem to be. I don't want you to get taken.

I noticed that too, and did approach them about it.

The company is www.bluphier.com

well... they're listed on Preditors and Editors, but there are no recomendations listed with them.

http://anotherealm.com/prededitors/pebb.htm

I looked at their home page and they do have a few books. since they state they're a traditional publisher, they shouldn't act like a self-publisher so be extremely cautious of any fees they ask.

Have you been able to find their books on amazon or in book stores?

They might just be very new, but I'm a little skeptical since they don't seem to be able to spell.

At least they got Suzie's name right though - most of the ones I approached before I went down the POD route called me Jane - grrr ! This to me is the epitomy of rudeness - I mean, if you're going to reject someone's work you should at least get their name right !!

Sounds like one to me - this week I have struggled to find the time to even write on here let alone anywhere else !

Great to see all the successes going on!

I've a couple to announce, since last post.

One, my poem "Waking Nightmares" has come to print at Haruah,

http://www.haruah.com/item.php?sub_id=1761

And, I may have mentioned here at some point that my "Realities" series had been accepted at The Sword Review for publication in 2008, but one chapter they had requested a rewrite. Happy to announce, I rewrote, I resubmitted and they accepted. :) So the whole series is set (four chapters).

And, to make it extra special, the parent publishing company of that magazine is currently reviewing the series as a potential published chap book, which would have an ISBN and sell on on-line and in bookstores! One of the editors is on board with it, and the other is reading it. Keeping fingers crossed and prayers ascending. :)

Thanks!

If anyone would like to know what's happening with the latest Linux kernel, whether Linus Torvalds himself is still working on it and whether there will be a version 3.0 of the kernel, check out the next edition of LinuxUser and Developer Magazine (London, but gets distributed around the world).

The website is http://www.linuxuser.co.uk. But I doubt the interview will be there when it's published, because it's an exclusive and rumour has it, the cover story. The publisher still hasn't decided, but it's likely to be the cover story. Yay! :)
