Boy! am I dumb today

I've only just realised:

We have two members, one called Ellie and another called Allie.

You know this could confuse an idiot.

Does anyone else ever feel dumb about anything. Please think hard I don't like being singled out as the only idiot. Perhaps we could start a club.

Ive had moments in recent times, where Ive forgotten people's names!

On holiday in Sept last year..I was browsing in a large gift shop when a couple came up to me,calling my name. My mind went blank (nothing unusual there...)I remembered their faces but the names had gone! But I managed to steer myself through it somehow and as they left I simply said,
" yeah nice seeing you and take care" (and to myself "whoever you are!" )

and I get 'lost' too! my youngest reckons I ought to wear a label like Paddington Bear, with my name & address on! .... or its the 'dumb blonde' remark

We are all born with a large wad of 'dumb' credit.  It accumulates interest.  Everything is OK as long as you don't spend all your 'dumb' at once.  You don't get to be a complete idiot until you are overdrawn.

If you think getting Ellie & Allie mixed up is dumb, then this must be really dumb. There's a user called "oliver" and I read one of his posts and thought "I didn't write that?" Of course I didn't because my username isn't "oliver"

Everyone's an idiot as some time. You'd have no shortages of members for an idiots' club. As for names, just don't say the person's name. Just say 'erm...' and they will fill in the name. I don't feel offended at all if someone has forgotten my name.Or you could be one of those people who calls everyone 'love' or 'darling.' I don't know if that helps in this forum as you don't have faces to associate Allie and Ellie with.

i think life does it for you.  A few knocks and near misses generally trips the mental switches the right way.  But I suspect the idiot programming still runs deep in the background, like one of those virues which are triggered on a certain date.  In this case certain stimuli like as a gorgeous member of the opposite sex, a shortage or indeed overdose of money or alcohol...  It's a lifelong risk, and sometimes the best things in life stem from a momentary idiocy ;-)

With this in mind perhaps we should nurture our Inner Idiot, but keep him/her on a tight rein ;-)

People who are are at that falling in love stage with someone new are prone to idiot acts such as:  forgetting to answer their friends' calls, thinking their new partner is 'nice' and perfect. It feels fantastic and dreamy but often leads to such acts as getting married.
Yes, it might be a good idea to nurture the inner idiot but keep him on a tight rein and not be overly sensible.
