There are a few famous writers in my family tree which dates back to the 900s(AD). But what I find most interesting, as I go through my family tree....is the number of preachers on the tree, and finding, my great(way back yonder) grandfather (Simon de Manning) was knighted on the battlefield by Richard I , King of England.

Having roots is important but knowing where your family tree took roots is more important.

Another writer in my family tree:

 Thomas Pynchon
American Novelist

My family tree is filled with surprises.

Simon Manning, son of William Manning and Joanna de Chryfold, was born about 1335 or 1344 in Codham, Kent, England. About 1364, he married Katherine Chaucer (b. ca. 1348) in London, England, daughter of John Le Chaucer and Agnes Copton. Katherine Chaucer ís older brother was Geoffrey Chaucer, the famous writer.

Geoffrey Chaucer's sister, Katherine (Chaucer) Manning, is my  Grandmother.
