Hard time pacing my novel…
« on: August 25, 2021, 04:38:41 AM »
Hello. I have an idea for a book—I’ve started it actually—but I’ve rushed the plot again so it’s at the “good” part only in the second chapter. I don’t want to stretch out the story but I want to make sure my novel doesn’t become a poem. As much as I love them. Any ideas on how to nyx this problem? Much obliged :)

Define "good part." If you're jumping into your conflict early, that's usually a good thing.

As for length, that depends on the nature of your plot (and potentially the number of obstacles experienced) and the number of subplots. If your plot can't carry a full-length work for whatever reason, then look at what you're doing with your subplots. If people get hooked on your subplots, you don't have to worry about your plot feeling stretched because you're keeping their attention in these other areas.
