Farm Emergency
« on: June 26, 2021, 05:57:13 PM »
Had to be done, they said,
better to lose the calf than the cow
after we put time, effort
and money into her.
Not much use for a bull-calf anyhow.

These things happen:
coming out head first,
legs bent back, stuck tight it was,
hooked it in the eye sockets,
pulled it out with the tractor.
That was best all the way round.

Still middle of the night
when they came in from the barn.
Mandy had the coffee ready.
She knew they'd rather talk it out
than go back to bed.

Actually your profile gives you credit for 3848 post[which is closer to 4000, than it is to 3000] since you joined in 2009. The majority are comments you made on other writers posts. But I will keep my eye out for your 'old' poetry.  I look forward to reading your 'new' comments on  MWC members post.     jt
