New writers

William G:
It isn't necessary to have a PHD in English to write books or novels. That being said, it does help to keep a word processor or some writing software handy. Ginger is free and does a very good job. Of course, better yet is to have a good friend, that you trust, to act as an editor for your work. A disciplined writer will put something on paper every day, whether it is five hundred or five thousand words. I often write a chapter by chapter outline beforehand of the complete book or novel I intend to write. This virtually eliminates going off into left field and confusing the reader with redundant details. Just starting out I highly suggest only writing about what you know or like best. Later on you can conduct research on virtually any subject and write about it. Good Luck!
