Hi there.
« on: January 08, 2020, 03:08:38 PM »
Hello fellow writers. I don't have terribly much to introduce myself with. I'm from the USA, residing on a mountainside that's as wild as it is cold right now. (but no snow at this moment, thankfully). I'm a mom of three, and in my house we tell time by whether or not Mom has a coffee mug in her hand or a wine glass. Needless to say, "momlight savings time" is a thing on rare occasions.

I've been writing for about ten years now, getting lost in various worlds in my head and inventing new men to swoon over. I'm lucky my husband is an understanding man. I've deviated from my passion of romance writing once, writing a YA novel and gaining slight interest from a few agents. Ultimately I was passed up for more appealing works and I returned to my true love: fantasy romance.

Let's see... I've finished at least 11 full length manuscripts. Eleven that I can remember, anyway. I tend to write, learn from my mistakes, and move on; as opposed to write and revise and then spend years revising into perfection. Both have their merits.

I have one published book on amazon. While I'm told that writing is a strong point of mine, marketing surely is not, as the book has only garnered one review in all of its existence. It's probably buried in the bottom of a search algorithm, lost under the weight of the thousands of new works that are published daily. Just the nature of the beast that is Amazon, I suppose. I hope that publishing the second book in the series will help the first float above the abyss.

Oh let's see, what else can I babble about. I'm a total introvert, and conversing with people is not my idea of fun. Needless to say, finding people to read and critique my work is a hard leap out of my comfort bubble. If you choose to be one of the poor souls swapping work with me, know that I'm sorry for how awkward I am; my attempts to be less Vulcan in my responses are not always smooth. If I come off as offensive, know that I would rather step on a lego than offend someone, even if that someone is clearly being rude to me. Kindness is a clear conscience.

So I think I've just about run out of things to say about myself. Hi, nice to meet you all. Let's all make our writing dreams come true.

One book on Amazon and one review is a lot more than some of the members on here have under their belts so don't be so harsh on yourself.

The best advice I was given by a fellow writer was 'keep writing' and 'keep self-publishing' so your name doesn't disappear into the Amazonian black hole of oblivion along with all the other wannabe writers who produce one book then rest on their laurels. I self-publish at least one book a year (having already had 2 published by the conventional method of submit and wait) and continue to make very modest sales on Amazon and on Kindle. To date I'm busy working on my 13th title.

Like you, I'm not a promotions or marketing expert because I like writing and nothing much else related to the industry.

Good luck and welcome aboard.
