Sidelined-one very mild swear word

Sidelined

Iíve been stuck here waiting for quite some time
watching this behemoth inch down the line;
graffiti baptized and shrouded in dust,
a wheeled barricade made of metal and rust.
Defiant it whistles, ďThough shall not pass!Ē
as car after car slinks down endless track.
Thereís no way to stop it and no way around
this iron menace that has me pinned down.
I donít have the time to sit here and stew.
Thereís so much I want and so much left to do.
I have plans and ambitions and places to be
All the people I love are depending on me.
Yet this scornful slug shuns all thoughts and all prayers.
Accept it or fight it, no matter, itís there.
I canít help but wonder as the damn thing rolls by,
Is it worth holding on? Should I even try?

Yet just when I start to lose all hope, just then:
the crossing arms open, and Iím free again.

Well written. I enjoyed the read. For me it draws a word picture of being stuck in traffic
waiting for a train to pass, wishing it would hurry up so  the driver could get on with his/her day.

I don't comment often on what you post but I read it.
Thank you for sharing your writings, and comments  on the MWC boards.
