Quasi-Possessives
« on: November 01, 2019, 12:29:37 PM »
Hi!

Without recasting, are the possessive apostrophes correct below after the words cents and weeks?

He put in his two cents’.
(Worth is implied here.)

He gave his two weeks’.
(Notice is implied here.)

Keep or toss those apostrophes?

Thank you!

Keep.

He didn't give two cents and he didn't give two weeks.
