Shimmering stars my poem
« on: June 25, 2019, 01:38:26 PM »
The stars are shimmering down on me
shedding light on the barren holly tree

falls icy cold,
the wind whispers my name as it hurls sleet at my face.

I look beyond the cold dark night
and see the shadows
from Jack frost

The lady in white
turned away from the  light of the opaque luster

Who was she
no one could explain.

I was hoping to find out more in the poem about what was holy and about the tree and how this holiness was barren. The idea of barren holiness intrigued me.   I read on hoping for more but I didn't see how the rest of the poem related to the first couplet.  I had trouble figuring out what was happening in the poem in general which made it hard for me to emotionally connect with it.  I think that you had some interesting imagery in the poem but I just couldn't see how the parts of the poem fit together.
