How do you keep yourself motivated to write?
Motivation to write from various sites.   jt

Being motivated 100% of the time just isnít possible for most authors. So donít get discouraged if youíre having a hard time getting started...

Conclusion

How do you motivate yourself to write?
1.Write every day
2.Donít edit as you write
3.Get rid of distractions
4.Take a break
5.Use examples from others
6.Talk it out
7.Try creative writing prompts

Motivation

What moves one to  stay focused on writing may not work for everyone. I've found that to stay motivated  I need to be inspired by thoughts  of the purpose for what it is I'm trying to write.   jt

Yes, I agree that having specific purposes for writing can be motivational.

For example writing (e)cards, or emails for the purpose of communicating specific messages, or writing blog posts, comments & replies or tweets on our twitterpage, to engage you as a reader.

Or to write in a Journal to help get ideas for interesting themes
to write blog posts about etc. etc.

I don't expect to be constantly motivated to write.  When I'm not, I read, garden, watch television, go out somewhere, etc.  Doing any of those things, however, might spark an idea, which in turn motivates me to put the idea into my writing.

Sometimes I'll read some of my favorite parts of my story and think, wow I like this and want to make more of this!

Besides having specific purposes for writing as I wrote about in a previous reply,
Some years ago I actually created a special - somewhat tongue in cheek - Funny Coffee Mug to help me focus, and to get some special 'external motivation'.

I created a Coffee Mug with the text: 'I Am A Bestseller Writer' that I wrote on it with a Marker. After one time in the dishwasher it was hardly readable anymore. Because of that I created a better version, with the same text. Only this time dishwasher-proof, and also with more sophisticated Lettering, with actual typewriter-style Lettering and not only for - ME - also for - YOU - one that everybody can buy online!

I actually did put it in my online shop and bought it myself, to check the quality. The quality is excellent and it now easily does survive the dishwasher, only - while I occasionally do sell other design Coffee Mugs - struggling artists like Writers don't seem to be the most promising target audience, and not motivated enough to motivate themselves with my brilliant looking motivational Coffee Mugs :)

So I also created an other slightly more impressive text:

'I Am A Bestselling Author'
