Newbie writer and late bloomer
« on: December 17, 2018, 06:52:54 PM »
Greetings!

Where to begin? Well, on the surface, I'm kind of your average middle-aged suburban dad. I live outside of Seattle, WA, USA with my wife and two kids. I work full-time as a software test engineer.

And I have a very imagination and a real love of all things creative. I write music. I love to cook (usually without a recipe.) And I've developed all kinds of characters and parallel worlds inside my head.

So last year, at the tender age of 42, I finally started to turn these characters and worlds into stories. And I discovered I really enjoyed it! In the year since, I've been ingesting any books, blog posts, podcasts, and YouTube videos related to writing that I can get my hands on.

My focus so far has been on contemporary romance, largely (though not exclusively) from the male point of view. I completed one short story this past October, but other than that I have a lot of unfinished projects in various stages. I'm a horribly slow writer who's still learning to just let the prose flow and not edit as I write!

Right now, I'm trying out different online writing communities to see what works, so here I am. I look forward to meeting other writers and learning more about the craft an the process.

"It's never too late to be what you might have been." George Eliot. Welcome aboard sir! I'm new here myself, still testing the waters. Community seems solid albeit I suspect many are busy with their holidays.
