My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

(Whatever the old proverb might say I can't really recommend taking a pen to a sword fight.)

sabre

=====

Here's a thought...

In competitive fencing epee is the only version where both contestants can theoretically lose at the same time.  In foil and sabre you have to defend against an oncoming attack before you can counter, it's part of the rules.  The 'right of way' rule.

In epee, based on the old duelling swords, you can avoid by sidestep or whatever and launch your attack at the same time.  If you both land a simultaneous hit you have both lost.  Just as you would with proper sharpened weapons.

I have often speculated on what would happen if the two finalists at The Olympic Games created these freak circumstances.  Would the Gold medal go to the third placed man seeing as numbers one and two had taken each other out?
