Wilfully misheard and gleefully misquoted song lyrics.

When the above record, 'Abracadra' came on at discos, or a pub jukebox, a friend of mine used to leap onto the dance floor, prance around like a frog in a blender in front of some poor bewildered girl, waiting for the appropriate line to join in.

It usually ended in laughter, but sometimes with a resounding slap.

"Abra-Abracadabra, I wanna reach out and shag ya."

Anyone else with a similar memorable misquote they want to share?

A bit more pg rated ,but I was only about six or seven. Whenever I heard Johnny Nash on the radio singing 'I can see clearly now the rain has gone, I can see all obstacles in my way." I used to sing as 'I can see all popsicles in my way". In my defense, I didn't know what obstacles were yet, but I sure knew about popsicles.

My cousin, Mark, was dragged to church just like the rest of us. But he did have a favorite song. Being a lapsed Catholic today and not having entered a church except to gawk for years now, I don't remember the real title to the song. But as my cousin belted out the words "holy God, might God" he got them a bit wrong.

He sang, "Holy God, Marky's God" and was quite pleased in his ownership.

"There's a bathroom on the right." was always a favorite of mine.

Willfully misheard and gleefully repeated.   I got into so much trouble with this one.
We had a girls' Gym teacher names Miss Skrove.  Pronounced in two syllables.

I was in Junior High, and there was a song out called "Feelin' Groovy" which I couldn't get out of my head.  Of course I replaced "Groovy" with the teacher's name, and thought it was hilarious.  Well, it was funny until I actually tried to sing it aloud, and somebody heard me.   Yeah, you guessed right.

Here is mine. I don't know if I even want to look up the real words because I like my substitution. >:D

I don't know, but I've been told: A three-legged woman ain't got no soul.

To us that one was always ...'You're gonna have to face it, you're a dickhead in love."

Would be played on the jukebox, with a raucous chorus and much pointing at the 'guilty' party when one of our drinking group was getting 'too serious' about a girl.

=====

One which didn't need to be misheard was the Dave Clark Five's Glad All Over, but the busty lass at school, who 'bloomed' about a year ahead of her flat-chested classmates, hated hearing the song.  Poor Gladys.  She should have been more resolute about not accepting the shortened version of her name.

My mother is convinced that Brandon Flowers says "Viagra" instead of "I Never" in "Mr. Brightside".
