I have a Kindle and a pile of books. There is room in my life for both.
Although I have used a Kindle as bookmark in a thick old paperback I appreciate the convenience of the Kindle for travelling. I've no idea just how waterproof it is, but I've fished it from the pockets of a totally rain sodden jacket, on a day when I was soaked right through to my underpants, and found it still worked. Yes, I could have gently eased apart the pages of a soaked paperback and read them too, as I have on occasion, but the little electronic buddy has quietly impressed me so far. As I have never treated it to a case, just a thin stick-on screen protector, it's still agreeably slim.
So far I have never yet made the mistake of tapping the corner of a paperback and expecting it to show me a new page. It may happen one day ;-)
