The Annual National Novel Writing Month topic (2017 Edition)
« on: October 25, 2017, 12:38:47 PM »
It's that time of year again. November is just a scant week away, and that means National Novel Writing Month is upon us again. The goal is to write 50,000 words in one month.

So, who's playing this year? This topic is a place to chat about this year's event. If you have any questions, we have some veterans who know a bit about intensely focused writing marathons.

You can sign up right now, and we always appreciate a declaration of intent.

Here's the link . . .

Pretty certain I won't be tackling it this year.  Just too much going on in so-called Real Life, but I'll probably be around to give moral support and some advice if needed.

Boo!

I heard a whisper that you'd started up the NaNo thread, Ollie (that's who you'll always be in my head anyway), so I thought it would be a good reason to pop back for a visit.

I've started off slow. Day 1 word count of 1735. But good news is I have an outline and I'm on a mission to actually complete the damn thing this time  ;D

I have no outline, so far. I have a vague idea of what's going to happen in the next few chapters.

I also have a document titled "Stuff I think about when I should be writing" to keep that stuff out of the main document this time around.

Work life is taking up too much of my time again this year.

God luck, you guys.  :-*

Best wishes to all participants. I am not even going to try this year, I always wonder how people manage. a busy missus, 2 very active kiddies and a full-time job always makes it difficult for me :(

cheers

I am finally ahead of the daily word goal for the first time.

It would seem having multiple documents open at the same time and writing whatever I want in there can work.

Am I a bad person. Here's a conversation I had with another writer via the nano private message system.

Other Writer: Hey. You seem a little mellowed out than you've been in previous years, and I'm just wondering if everything is okay?

Sprocket: Quit worrying and get back to work.

Other writer: Yeah yeah. Lol Well, if you need anyone to talk to, I'm always here to lend an ear.

Sprocket: Actually, I haven't told anyone this but I'm pretty sick at the moment.

Other Writer: Oh no! I'm so sorry. :( With the way that you say that it sounds like it might be a bit more than a simple cold. Be doubly sure to take care of yourself this month and don't let the writing stress you. You will get better. <3

Sprocket: Yeah, I'm actually dying of boredom waiting for you to catch up.

You were honest  :P ;D

I was bedridden for the entire day yesterday, so got nothing done... but made up for it today. Passed the 10K mark!
