How many minutes do you lose for each G & T Kate?  ;D

I repeat: WTF?

It's all an illusion anyway, right?

Noizchild -

I was curious about the Wasteland Project you reference and it was an easy matter to find the series online: http://archiveofourown.org/works/981372/chapters/1932533

I was surprised to find that both of your postings here are of poems previously published as part of that project.  The idea of celebrating National Poetry Month by writing 30 poems in 30 days is to in fact write 30 poems in 30 days.  This thread is intended as the record of that quest for all who undertake it.

Your Wasteland Project 2011 website looks interesting, though I confess I didnít delve into it too deeply.  With all due respect, if you wish to further showcase your writing from that project, I suggest you post to MWCís The Gallery:  http://mywriterscircle.com/index.php?board=15.0

In the meantime, there is lots of creative juice to create a little world where 30 new poems come to life - I hope you're part of the trek.

What does that mean? I mean 'WTF', what the fuck what?
'It's all an illusion anyway' What's an illusion?
Anywho, I'll settle for any reaction, so WTF will do.
Thanks for reacting.

Primitive

We repeat
copy others
carbon copies sometimes
no need for obvious darkness beneath fingernails
to show our faults
pointless to clip or brush them
it's there in every fibre

a body never found
dissolved, bones
and even fingernails too
returned
not to where they came from
but to the sludge

a family reduced
somehow
because they can't visit
sludge
or stand above its resting place

primitive

OK, two in one day.
Am I going to be chastised?
Can all my poems be about death? Really? OK, can most of them be about death? OK you bastards, just tell me how many!
So few! OK, well if I can't write about death WTF can I write about?
The first one who suggests life or love is dead to me!

I had to take time out, which leaves me playing catch-up, but hopefully I'm back for the duration.

NaPo 2.

Life grabbed me by the scruff of my neck,
shaking me like a terrier with a rat.
I played dead for a day or so
until it's feral breath faded away.
I looked cautiously around,
shaken but not stirred,
and pieced things together again.

Life goes on. It has this habit,
and it's a tough one to break.
Looking back I have to wonder.
Were my two lost days weakness,
or wisdom?
Sometimes the difference is obvious,
but not this time.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

NaPo 3

Testing Times.

Testing Times.

Wired up like an old motorbike
with leads running every which way,
hooked to sticky tags on my skin
whilst the nurse's little grey box
meters and measures micro movements
which tell her more than I need to know
about the beast under the skin.

Blood drawn in four little tubes,
the hideous discomfort of a pressure cuff,
with an oximeter biting my finger
like a half-hearted crab.

Oh goody, I've passed my MOT.
I'm fit enough for my operation.
It seems that at my age they worry
about knocking me out.
Just in case I don't come back.

I could tell them the lines on my palm
are growing deeper and stronger,
and although they're no longer
there's a good few years left yet.
Or a few good years.
I don't need a grey box to know this.

    Stolen moment

All long dresses and veils,
Like dark brides they stroll in the park,
The younger ones in pair
Babbling and laughing,
Older ones walking in a line,
Silent.
Some of them stroll alone,
Talking softly into their telephone.

I imagine their luxurious hair,
Black and shiny,
Released
And floating in the April wind
Like a scented banner.
