FLASH FICTION CONTEST #124 - In The Forest
« on: October 21, 2016, 02:35:18 PM »
With fall in the air here in the Northern Hemisphere, the changing leaves are on the minds of many. Not only due to the autumn, but because I just finished reading Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood, the theme for the next Flash Fiction Contest is "In The Forest"

Murakami uses both literal and metaphorical forests in his work, feel free to use either or both in yours. Make it fun, funny, nostalgic, morose–whatever mood strikes you! Just keep it under 450 words.

PM your entry to me.  Deadline has been extended to 11-29-16 at 11:59 EST . Good luck!

Will a Moderator please sticky this? Thanks.

Two days until the contest is over!
Take a minute and write a short short story- you could be the next winner! We select by the popular vote here, folks!

So what's the deal with this challenge? The deadline was a month and a half ago.

There were no submissions for the challenge even after a deadline extension, so it was put on hold for the holidays and will be resumed shortly.

What's up with this challenge? Is it on or off?

Considering there have been no entrants to the last few, some being run more then once, most have been on hold. We will be trying to get them going again this week. But we need entrants or its very deflating for a member to run it and get no one enter

Might I make a suggestion? How about an open prompt? I'm not saying this is the issue with this contest, but sometimes the prompts just aren't that inspiring.

We all have stories we work on and if you made it an open prompt, I bet you'd get a lot more entrants.

Just my 2 cents, use or lose.   ;D

Have you considered that possibly the person who was running this may not be coming back for awhile? I'm guilty of getting too much on my plate and forgetting to get back to these things. Do we have a set rule as to how long a challenge should lay dormant because the challenger is otherwise engaged? I hope I stated that nicely enough to not come off as unkind.
