How long from synopsis to publication?
« on: February 20, 2006, 09:56:00 AM »
Hello, wondered if this could be a FAQ too?

How short can the time be between synopsis and publication - what' s the quickest it can happen do you think? Is there an average timespan and what are the major (and minor!) hold-ups? I'm interested in knowing re fiction and non-fiction.

Thanks for reading

Linda

Sorry this is in the wrong place, isn't it? It should be in 'all the write questions'!

Hey OH,

I can only answer for non-fiction. In my case it took around 18 months from first approaching the publisher, to it being in print and for sale.

I believe that the standard time is usually around 12 -18 months.

Maybe some of the other members can answer for fiction?
