Alice, A Country Gal
« on: July 31, 2016, 08:27:07 AM »
We have some sad news for the MWC community. We've lost our Alice.

Those of you who have been around awhile will know long time Moderator Alice, A Country Gal.  Alice loved the forum and spent more hours here than anyone. She passed away this weekend and we miss her terribly.

Alice loved writing and keeping us all in line on the boards, but more than anything she loved her family. We hope they find comfort knowing that she was beloved by many people she never even met in person.

It's been just under four months since Alice told the other moderators that she was sick and likely not coming back. She broke it to us by recounting a dream about her old dog, Rusty, long gone.

Quote
Rusty came to visit me this morning, at least I think it was him. Whoever it was only stayed a split second, just long enough for me to see his size and color.

It could be because I’ve been thinking more about seeing him soon and once again being able to take our walks and simply enjoy each other and nature. I dare say there will be a whole gathering to meet and greet me consisting of both two and four footed friends when the time comes."

We'll miss you, Alice.  :'(

Thanks for sharing the quote, Laura.  It is so characteristically Alice in so many ways.

Alice will be missed. Hope she has some good times with Rusty. Thoughts are with her family.

Sad news indeed. Alice gave so much to the MWC community and never expected anything in return. Rest in peace, Alice.

Definitely a Lady.  I enjoyed our conversations, both on the circle and via PMs.

Quite clearly a life well-lived.

Oh, Alice, my friend. You will be so greatly missed. Go have that party with Ma, Skip and anyone else who has sadly passed. Dance the fandango dear buddy.
Time to take it serious and get the job done

Alice, even though you aren't here anymore, I want to believe you are reading this somehow. That you are out there somewhere right now, with Skip, and Ma, and Rusty. And that you know how many people will miss you, and how much they will miss you. Thank you for all the time you chose to spend here with us. You're a heck of a gal, and I hope we will speak again someday, because I still need your approval on that cookie recipe you gave me. :'(

Skip and Ma will definitely give her a rousing welcome.

I'm so grateful I was able to cross paths with her on here, both as a regular member and during my time as a mod. One of my favourite things about her was her deep love of nature, whether it be animals or flowers. We had quite a few conversations about that sort of thing.

RIP Alice  :'(

Just learned the sad news of Alice passing.

She was such a lovely, helpful person, especially when as a newby I didn't know my arse from my elbow. I still have the longest PM ever where

she broke down instructions on how to set up a competition. Must have taken her forever. Especially when I asked for clarification a million times.

And she still managed to make me feel okay, and not the dumb ass I was!

Thank you, Alice. You are remembered fondly xx
