Reboot, Short Story Contest #40

This contest will, I hope, challenge everyone. You all know the various genres and sub-genres of fiction, Crime, Romance, Comedy, YA, etc. This contest asks you to step outside your comfort zone, write in a different genre. Say you are a stomp down wizard Espionage writer. Why not try a Western? Or perhaps you mostly do Fantasy - step away from the Orc and write a War story. Only you will know if you actually cross genres, but try the challenge for Fun.

Tell the story in 1000 words or less. Deadline is the end of the month, July 31, 1600 GMT. (That's Noon for me, so I can sleep late.)

Still more than a week to get your story in. Remember, it's genre change, not gender change. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- do that too if you wish.
