One Helluva Woman
Her frozen knickers will of course be remembered,
Ma would want it that way, but what a sad bloody day,
hearing she’s gone. We crossed swords, had words,
had fun, shared ‘stuff’ to be done for the forum,
anthologies, Olympinks and proofreading – oh yeah
plenty of that. I’ll miss the old bat and her no nonsense crits.
What a woman! What a nutter! Her sense of humour
was wicked and evil and she spoke straight.
Mairi said things were getting hard but she ballsed it out
as usual, no time to whinge or whine, get on with it
as best you can, even if that means being nice to sis’ cats.
She made us laugh, she drove us mad, she even had
a thing against some bits of punctuation like colons
and semi colons. I was never sure if she abhorred them
more than poetry – only joking. Maybe I’m not. RIP Ma.
And good luck with Drew and the ghosties, I loved them.
