EXT. BUSY STREET - DAY

Traffic and pedestrians maneuver a busy downtown street.

CUT TO:

INT. DINER, TABLE - DAY

A pretty girl sits at a table by the window, sipping coffee.  She looks out the window as if she were waiting for something to happen.

A waitress comes to her table.

WAITRESS
More coffee?

CHRISSY
Iím good, thanks.

WAITRESS
Whatís the matter donít you like your biscotti?

Chrissy turns to look at a guy walking by.

CHRISSY
Huh?

WAITRESS
Your Biscotti?

CHRISSY
Oh- I love it---- Iím just not that hungry.

WAITRESS
Are you waiting for someone?

Chrissy repositions herself.

CHRISSY
No--- No, Iím just enjoying my coffee---- and people watching.

WAITRESS
Havenít I seen you here before?

Someone calls for the waitress.

WAITRESS (CONTíD)
Drinking coffee--- and people watching.

CHRISSY
(Self-conscious)Sounds kind of strange, huh?

WAITRESS
No. Not really but, I get the feeling thereís more to it than that.

Chrissy snaps her head back from looking out the window.

CHRISSY
Maybe a little.

WAITRESS
He must be real cute?

CHRISSY
Kind of.

WAITRESS
Is that why you keep looking out the window?

Chrissy embarrassingly smiles.

WAITRESS (CONTíD)
Ah, it was love at first sight?

CHRISSY
No. More like a missed connection.

WAITRESS
You missed --what?

CHRISSY
Like when you meet someone but didnít connect the first time around.

WAITRESS
Oh get it, you hesitated and wish you hadnít and now youíre trying to find him again?

CHRISSY
BINGO!

WAITRESS
(Thinking out loud)OK, Yeah I get it; missed connection.
(Beat)You should try to find him on Craigslist.

CHRISSY
I did. I mean, Iíve tried that. Believe me, it was a month ago when I saw him on a Monday and by Wednesday I already had my posting up.

WAITRESS
A month ago?--- Oh he must be sweet.

CHRISSY
(Using hand gestures) Guy who
Chased purse snatcher- W4M.

WAITRESS
Come again.

CHRISSY
That was the title of my posting because thatís how it went down.

The waitress sits down.

CHRISSY
For some reason I couldnít stop thinking about this guy and how brave he was. So, I grabbed my laptop and started to write my postingóó something I thought that I would never do.

CUT TO:

INT. APARTMENT, LIVING ROOM, COUCH

Chrissy sits on the couch next to her cat typing on her laptop. The title reads. Guy who chased purse snatcher - w4m.

CLOSE UP ON COMPUTER SCREN:

CHRISSY (V.O.)
Hi...

She types. íHi...í

CHRISSY
(V.O.)You, I hope you get this.
Just after I was totally convinced there were few men left in this world, here I finally see one take action into his own hands.

FADE TO:

EXT. BUS STOP, DAY. CHRISSY SITS AT A BUS STOP.

CHRISSY
(V.O) And I wonít lie to you, I liked it a lot and it was incredibly hot.

Beat.

CHRISSY
(V.O) I was the girl in a corporate skirt, a skirt that was rather high, waiting at a bus stop and periodically checking my phone.

CUT TO:

An older woman sits near the bus stop. Chrissy checks her phone for messages, and seems rather restless.

CHRISSY
I had seen you earlier walking around and truth be told, I didnít give you much thought.

Chrissy glances at the guy as he seems to want to be noticed by her.

CHRISSY
(V.O) But, donít read into that.  I have the red storm in town this week and my job has been stressing me out a bit.

CHRISSY (CONTíD)
(V.O) As I waited, suddenly I saw a man run up to an older woman sitting nearby, do a ninja-like cartwheel, and then grab her purse.

CHRISSY (CONTíD)
(V.O) She screamed and this is when you took note. You were walking right past me at this point and threw your coffee at
the ground and tossed me your messenger bag.

CHRISSY (CONTíD)
(V.O simultaneously)
íNot againí, you said. íNot in my house, naw uh, no wayí.

GUY
(Simultaneously with V.O)
Not again. Not in my house, naw uh, no way.

CHRISSY
(V.O)
Following this decree you then ran after the man and yelled at him to stop.

GUY
Stop asshole, right now!

CHRISSY
(V.O) And surprisingly, he did.

Masked robber stops.

CHRISSY (CONTíD)
(V.O)
Although he had a black mask on, he turned around and
I could tell he stared you down. And...

Too much ado about nothing.

Establish the location and period.
Introduce the main character.
Start the dramatic action.

Thus far I have submitted half of a script for review. The script is for a possible indie short film (about 10 minutes in length).

*The exact location is not relevant at this time. The producer will likely decide where the project will be shot. My choice is to shoot it in San Fransisco CA.
*The time period is always current unless otherwise stated.
*The main character is Chrissy. She is the only character with a name, in case you didn't notice.
*I stop the "dramatic action" in the middle of a scene where a purse snatcher is robbing an old lady of her purse.

You will have to read the rest to find out what happens.

Have a nice day.
