On the back steps of the convent...
« on: June 26, 2015, 07:50:58 PM »
In response to an unwitting prompt from Mark T and a semi-challenge from Tom on the review my poetry thread...

(This link is to the poem and comments which triggered things.)

On the back steps of the convent,
every night since she died
Mother Theresa plays spoof with the Devil.

"Guess which hand holds my soul,
Lucifer, and it's yours for eternity.
It's a fifty-fifty gamble.  Just do it."

He loses repeatedly, angrily,
and whilst they play
less sturdy souls sneak past into Heaven.

But does he really lose?  After all,
he is the Prince of Lies.
He's supposed to be cunning.

Maybe he's enjoying the game,
keeping her out of Heaven.

Or maybe he just doesn't want her
running around and organising Hell.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at
