Merry Christmas, Frogg and thanks for the song.

So...2015. It's coming.

So you shoot fireworks to mark new years in South Africa, Julie?

Yes, fireworks are a huge new year item. We don't shoot any because it is illegal to do so on agricultural holdings - there are lots of dogs and horses around.

We don't shoot fireworks because we don't like to burn money  ;D  Plenty of people around here do, though. There will be firecrackers popping and bottle rockets whistling all through the night.

Aren't the neighbourhood animals traumatised?

I had a friend who's dog escaped the premises during a fireworks event (could have been Guy Fawkes or New Year) The dog was found three days later with tattered bleeding paw pads - poor thing hadn't stopped running for three days.

I/we loved fireworks (organised firework displays, not the idjit in the streets kind). Then we became dog owners. Now we loathe them for the fear they instill in our dogs. Maisie loves them cos she's deaf and can only see the exciting flashes of light. Barney cowers under blankets (that we provide) till the banging and loud cracks stop. It leaves him traumatised for days. Lewi is just plain nervous. He's too young to be terrified . . .yet. B
Fare thee well Skip. We're all 'Keening' now. xbx
