Hello. I was unsure for years whether I could call myself a writer, but I think I can. I've had two non-fiction books published and an third one self-published. Now I'm learning to write fiction, and it's a different ball game. Part of that is that are so many books, e-books, and websites to tell me how to write a good novel, and I have way too much information to use it all. I'm going to begin writing a first draft of my novel, and then use all the information to improve it to a second draft.
I write on a laptop because I'm in my 70s and my hands have tremors in them, too shaky to read my own handwriting. I use LibreOffice to write with, Scrivener to organize my books, and Createspace to self-publish. I'm proud of the look and heft of my self-published book. I formatted it in LibreOffice for Createspace. That was a learning experience, and if anyone wants to hear how I did it, I have written down the method I used and will share it if you wish.
I'm pleased to be a member of myWritersCircle and look forward to good discussions about the writing I'm doing.
