Short Story Challenge #21 - July 12th
« on: June 29, 2014, 03:29:06 PM »
I grew up watching superhero cartoons. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Justice League, X-Men... You name it, I watched it. They all had some really interesting characters throughout, but often, the ones that stole the show were the antagonists. Magneto, the Joker, Mister Mxyzptlk, Green Goblin... They had the best episodes.

-The challenge this time is to write a story from a supervillain's point of view.
(EDIT: Note, we're not writing fanfiction. Make up your own villain in your own universe. Sorry if I was unclear. :P)

In addition, you must include at least 2 of the following....

1. A character who can control fire.
2. A betrayal.
3. Implausible Fencing Powers.
4. A Well-Intentioned Extremist.
5. A suitcase full of money.
6. A female superhero.
7. A Sadistic Choice
8. A plane falling out of the sky.
9. Fighter jets.
10. An earthquake.
11. A bomb.
12. Aliens.
13. A suit of armor. Iron-Man type stuff, or plain old medieval, your choice.

Maximum word count: 2,000. Minimum, 800.

PM entries to me by July 12th, 11:59PM, GMT.

Looks like fun. However, you forgot to mention Batgirl in your list of superheros  ::)

IMO we need more female protagonists. I didn't mention Batgirl because most superhero series tend to be based around, and named after, male heroes. :-\ If she had her own series, I would have watched the frack out of it. :P We need more heroines!

That leads me to ask . . . did you watch Wonder Woman?

She was my favorite way back when.  :)

Wonder Woman was a bit before my time.  :-\ And we didn't get reruns in my area. My mom used to watch it though, and she says it was really good.

I've told everyone before that I'm old as dirt, now you come along and prove it.  ;D

It would be a problem using her any of her super villeins is that there were so many different villeins and frankly, I don't remember any of them. Guess they weren't all that super.  :)

Sorry, Alice! :D

Wonder Woman actually has some good supervillains. But probably because of budget reasons, most of them stayed in the comics. Same thing happened to the Hulk.

I just wondered something.... The challenge is to make up your own supervillain and write a story about them. Not to write about a villain/hero that already exists.
I just re-read the challenge and it sounds like it could mean the latter.

I got the "make your own villain" bit right away but I must admit I had a small doubt wether I had to make up superheroes or use existing ones. But then I read the required inclusions and that cleared it up for me.

I'm glad you clarified it, I thought it had to be about a villain from a comic book. Since I was never into comics I wasn't even going to attempt.
Much more interesting now.  ;)
