Oranges by LC1 is the winner!

Congratulations -- over to you.

Thank you everyone who entered and thank you to all the voters too. It was close for a while there.
;D

Four poems from which to choose your favourite . . . enjoy. Thank you to all who submitted entries. ;)

Needle

Normality flies away at
Entry, as the steel
Evil only in its application
Delivers a charge of slow death.
Life continues, and is then
Extinguished.

Oranges

Watch me light up the fruit bowl.
A sun like entity I sit in the centre,
the rest spiralling out wards desperate
not to fall off the edge.

Grab and
throw me lightly in the air,
racing I'll reach my peak and stop.
Gravity will bring me gently
to your hand.

Roll me on the table in a
dizzying frenzy, it'll soften me up.
A bite to pierce, my flesh
discarded as I'm spun round and round.

Naked and broken,
my blood draws your mouth
as you slurp my life away. I dribble
in one last act of defiance.

Eventing at Groton House

“Horse on course!”
The steward cries and
the spectators stand aside
we gallop out of the woods
and approach the jump
a huge tree trunk
pinioned in place,
I have doubts
but can’t stop now.

Count the strides
One
Two
Three
feel you pitch in, lift
I’m right there with you
reach reins up your neck
to give you your head
you stretch and arc
I rise and align,
both eager
for that precious moment
of airborne weightlessness.
We make it over
and I can breathe again.

Heartsong

The universe is sung into existence,
pitch perfect from the mouth of God.
Waveforms oscillate, expansive.
Stars in motion proselytize the void.

Fingers tap in time, the feet follow.
Melodies ride the beat up to the brain.
A heartsong echoes through the ages
while parts in concert celebrate the day.

Well done, LC1.  A juicy little number.  Plenty of tactile 'stuff' there to get our teeth into.
My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1
