The Anime Discussion
« on: March 23, 2014, 05:43:13 PM »
Okay, I know we have at least a couple of anime fans on the board so it's about time we started an anime discussion. So;

What anime have you been watching recently?
Do you need any recommendations?
Have you heard any interesting anime news recently?

There's much to discuss.

I'll start by mentioning that I'm currently watching Hayate The Combat Butler.

I LOVE YOU!!!!! Can I kiss you, man?

I'm watching "Suzuka" and "Genshikin" right now.

My top five: Yami no Matsuei, Durarara, Ghost Hound, D.Gray-Man, and Hetalia.

My second fave, Durarara, is getting a second season.

I must recommend Kokoro Connect

The story involves five high school students—Taichi, Iori, Himeko, Yoshifumi, and Yui—who are all members of the Student Cultural Research Club. One day, they begin experiencing a phenomenon in which they randomly swap bodies amongst themselves. As these five friends face many different phenomena at the whims of a mysterious being known as "Heartseed", their friendship is put to the ultimate test.

I also Recommend Sunday Without God: It follows Ai a young half human/gravedigger who sets out to save the world.

If you like  Fan Service I also recommend Upotte! which is about a school of girls who are anthropomorphized weapons, plenty of skin, but the plot is excellent and educational( lots of talk about rifle types etc)

Finally Check out Animenetwork.com they offer both a free and premium list of Anime....

I've heard nothing but good things about Durarara.

Later tonight, I'm going to be watching Ocean Waves (I Can Hear The Sea).

Quote
Ocean Waves was the first Ghibli film not directed by Hayao Miyazaki or Isao Takahata. It was conceived as a test run for Ghibli's younger staff members to prove they could make a quality film quickly and cheaply. However, it went both over-budget and over-schedule, and was not considered a success. The film was released in Europe in 2008 and Australia in 2010 with English subtitles; Disney owns the rights to distribute it in North America but as of yet has not done so.
Quote from TV Tropes

Speaking of Miyazaki, he has cancelled his plans to retire. This is insanely good news.

It's really good. Have you seen Baccano? It's by the same people.

I'm not a huge anime fan in general (though I did randomly end up at Otakon in Baltimore a few years ago), but my best friend got me into Haibane Renmei awhile back, which I thought was amazingly good.

I'll look it up on YouTube. I'm paying $6.95/month for Anime on demand on cable, don't see any of the above animes listed  >:(

There used to be a dedicated anime channel here in the UKs but it only had like 10 shows on it.

However, one was Fullmetal Alchemist and another was Cowboy Bebop so it wasn't so bad.
