Sio, I agree with you, there is loads of poets on here that could contribute. But, do you remember the last time when you were collecting, how many you actually got and that was with your speedy fingers begging.

The poets have to commit to submitting stuff. Out of those 22 poets, each submitted at least 3 and some 4.

Oh, I know. If the poets want to have an anthology they'll have to submit. That's why I suggested different categories/sections just to remind folks that not all poems have to be free verse. There have been some great contributions to other forms.

And . . . not naming and shaming, but I know who stepped up to the mark last time and who never replied to my messages. ::)

Crappy or not the poem has to good enough for publication, then it would be considered. Some of the 'crappy' stuff has been good, but I don't think it is a viable marketing ploy and there are standards to maintain. :-[

And . . . the poems have to be new pieces . . . it's not just a trawl through here raiding what's already been in public view to compile an anthology. :o

It would be worth considering the better poets help to get stuff up to scratch if the poem shows promise.

Who pays to read poetry these day, LOL?  ::) :o ::)

Look at how hard it is to get people to vote, never mind enter the poetry competitions.
It will be really interesting to see if people will contribute.

I think the problem is poetry is so subjective that poets are uncertain whether the piece they have written is up to snuff. Without feedback for tweaks etc. these insecure writers [yes, they are just like the prose people] would probably be reluctant to submit.

What's good? What's rubbish? There are so many different styles it's hard to tell sometimes. :-[

Maybe people could 'test' their pieces in the Poetry Workshop before they made a final decision about what to submit. ???
