fingers dislocate
countless times
a day

shoulders sublux
only twice
or thrice

doorframes pop up
out of nowhere
to bar my way

tables, chairs and
chests of drawers
throw themselves
at me

I trip up the stairs
and lose my balance
standing still

black bruises
dot my skin
and veins may
pop at random

but I can easily
scratch my own back
and nibble my toes

Me again. This is well-written and very clear - but the narrative is dismaying.

Thank you Mark. I never thought of it like that. The dismaying part. I used to think this was all very normal, and was quite shocked to find out things didn't work that way for most others. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that.

Lookie what I got in the mail today. Three of those really handy wallet cards for my girls and myself. I hope we'll never actually need them.  :)

I hope you never need them too.

That bit about stitches cutting through the connective tissue really brought it home to me.
My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at

My younger daughter had stitches once. It was unbelievable. They just tore through the skin and she ended up with a far bigger scar than she'd have had without the stitches.  :(
