A 13$ note
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:46:38 AM »

Greetings

Apologies for any offence given due to bibulous posting on Fri nite. My last two posts have been retreads from an old post. For these misdemeanours, I sentence Mark T to a fortnight of no further Topics and to do some MWC community service.

Community service #1:

Recommended movie. ‘In search of Sugarman’.
Award-winning documentary available on iTunes for 13$ with a 95% reviewers rating.

Sixto Rodriguez was a Detroit ghetto poet-musician who released two albums, Cold Fact and Coming from Reality, in the early 1970s. They sank without trace in America and he remained obscure and poor for almost 40 years. But meantime elsewhere… he was a mythical legend, a superstar for generation after generation… and didn’t know anything about it.

This is a moving, incredible story. Avoid pre-knowledge, don’t read the reviews or summaries – just watch the movie and let the story unfold. Get the albums too, no poet will regret it.

Mark

PS I heard last night it's won an Oscar for best documentary.
