Aww They're gorgeous Ds. We were in Hope Valley one year for a change and there's loads of primordial(think that's right) forests that went all the way down to the lake. We were walking round the perimeter of it when we came upon a nest just sitting there all on its own with one egg in it, and it was huge! But cold. So we knew it was abandoned. We'd never seen a CG or its eggs before. I'll see if I can find the pic and post it. Bri

I love a good sunset photo :D And the cheeky smiles on the boys' faces Dawn :D

Here's another favourite of mine, taken a few years ago at a provincial nature reserve near home. I've been terrified (why, I don't know) of butterflies and moths since I was a kid, and the day we went happened to be during the Monarch migration season. Hubby and the kids were walking ahead, while I was lagging behind looking for interesting creatures and plants to photograph. I turned, noticing this Monarch on a branch at head-height a metre away from me. Just sitting there, waiting for me to take its picture :) I took about fifteen before it flew away, but it was the first time I'd seen one close enough to notice the white spots on its body. I was actually fascinated . . . as long as it kept its distance :P

It's good to laugh at yourself once in a while - why let everyone else have all the fun!

Cute picture, Dawn.  I remember my first introduction of Alfie was in a story at a train station you had wrote.

Nice to put a smile to the boy's wonder.

Here at Science North(where there's real snow, not that city stuff), DS, there's a room which holds all sorts of butterflies. They flutter about and land everywhere, so it's not uncommon to find one on your nose, well maybe 3 on mine cause its so damn big :(

What's big? The butterlowy(butterfly) or your nose? Or both? ::)

Came back to say, great sunset pop, Loved the panoramic more though.

Ds, that butterfly is posing! ha ha. Beautiful photo, I get the feeling those monarchs are big enough to walk anywhere! ha ha. xbx

Every now and then someone gets an urge to promote 'take your dog to work' day.

Byron, the cadaver dog, playing around on a zip-line from the practice tower on an open day at the fire headquarters.  This is an example of how they would get him down from a harbour wall onto a burned out and possibly capsized ship, or alternatively, evacuate him in a hurry from a tower block.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

To be honest he looks absolutely bored on the way down.  I think he just shuts off until his feet are back on the ground and he can get to work again.  As soon as he met his handler at the bottom he was all alert and eager again.

Gorgeous sunsets Bri!

That butterfly was a big one - one wing was almost the size of one of my palms (the little frog in that other pic is thumbnail-size, for comparison).
