Marjorie

Marjorie bristled
as the kettle wolf whistled
as it did every day
in an insolent way.
It is sexist she mused
I am being abused
Iím just making tea,
donít objectify me.
My mornings you spoil
as you come to the boil
as in some sick dream
you spurt me with steam.

Those outdated ways
are offensive these days Ė
pointing me out
with your prominent spout.
I call it assault
Donít say itís my fault
I wonít be blamed
if your passionís inflamed.
And if you donít cease
I shall call the police.

She emptied it then
she filled it again
and in this odd mood
drank her tea in the nude.
