And So The Christmas Season Begins....
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:25:19 AM »
Three  men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint
    Peter at the pearly gates.

'In honor  of this holy season' Saint Peter said, 'You must
each possess something that symbolizes Christmas  to get into heaven.'

The  Englishman fumbled through his pockets and  pulled out
a lighter. He flicked it on. 'It's a  candle', he said.

'You may  pass through the pearly gates' Saint Peter  said.

The  Scotsman reached into his pocket and pulled out  a set
of keys. He shook them and said, 'They're  bells.'

Saint  Peter said 'You may pass through the pearly  gates'.

The  Irishman  started searching desperately  through his
pockets and finally pulled out a  pair of women's panties.

St. Peter  looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and
asked, 'And just what do those  symbolize?'

The  paddy  replied, 'These are  Carols.'

              And So The  Christmas  Season
              Begins......

Got any traditions you have in your family Dawn?

Any good recipes or hints and tips perhaps?  :D

We always have new pj's on Christmas Eve.

Honestly, with my son, we have had to learn to not plan anything and just go with the flow. Christmas is hard for him. We can put a Christmas tree up while he is at school and he won't notice it. Yet, the slightest change to his routine and it's meltdown city. We find if we don't expect anything or too much it usually finds a way of being okay.

How about you FF?

Ahh a tricky one then Dawn.

None of our plans ever go to plan either mate, thats a given.  :D

We never had much Christmas as kids so I try with mine. I started a tradition when they were little, now theirs do the same.

They would bust to open a present early so on Christmas Eve evening, they were allowed to open a gift each from each other.  ;D

It was a hit the first year and so its now part of tradition.  ;D ;D

Then we sing carols and I sing the loudest of course.  ::)

Awww. We were never allowed to open presents until after breakfast. Hubby's family used to all open presents at the same time - I was like "No!" it's just wrong, I liked to see people's faces when they see what I've bought them.
New years Eve we get the kids up at midnight :-[ :-[

One tradition, my mum and dad insisted on, was that me and brother had to stand outside with a coin. 15 minutes in the freezing cold (((bbrrrrr))) Now as an adult, I can see it was so they could have a sneaky snog.

What reason did they give?

I looooooooooove Xmas. I don't like the commercialisation of it but I love the festivity.

We will put the tree up tomorrow night because the first of December we have a wedding.  ;D

And the most out of tune. >:D

Up till last year, we'd have all the kids around xmas eve. Bed time consisted of me and the two girls in the double bed and my boys in sleeping bags on the floor nagging most of the night. My step- daughter would be downstairs with her two boys and her dad. Even then we were all up by 5am for present opening and me to cook.

Ma, sounds bliss - I love Chrimbo.

Ff, they said it was to bring in the New Year. We must have been gullible ::)

One of the guys in our brigade mate. Supposed to be 42'C so good drinking weather.  ;)

She is still in Sydney in hospital but well on the mend thanks. Hopes to be flown back to her home hospital this week but we will see I guess.  ???

My now son in law makes a damper dip every year and its amazing. I can't remember the ingredients, he does a seafood on for Xmas but here is an idea.

 :o :o :o

Not fish Ma, seafood. The difference is soooo obvious.

That is but a sample of how the said dip is constructed, for you heathens from the North.  ::)
