Cheers, Ron.  That was mine.  The idea hit me almost as soon as I saw the prompt, but I had lots of other things on my mind and almost forgot about it.  I only got around to writing it with a couple of hours to spare before the deadline and had a lot of fun getting 'into' the mind of the demon.  Then I forgot about it again until I saw you'd won.  Came as quite a shock to realise I was only just behind you.

I've come across the phrase Jewish Lightning once or twice before in American stories.  Usually involving insurance scams.  Strikes from a cloudless sky at the most opportune moments.
