Postage Advice help!

Can anyone tell me about pre-paid stamps in the UK?  Is it right that the post office won't accept a parcel if it is not posted back to the sender from the same post office.

I recently paid for my mss (in English stamps) to be sent back to Holland from London (cost me a lot!) and I got a mail today to say that these are dated and generally post offices other than the one they were issued at won’t accept them.

That does seem very odd.  So I've asked for my mss to be destroyed.  Am I missing something here - what if you send something to someone from say Scotland and your recipient is in London - how can you possibly post it back with a pre-paid?  I don't understand it?

As I don't live in the UK I had no idea about the stamp I used, I asked for stamps not prepaid but didn't know the big special stamps which I assumed was for a parcel posting, was a pre-paid.

I've just made a complaint to the post office asking for my money back.  They sold me the wrong product!  It wasn't what I asked for.
