  • I've been writing ever since I realised I could.
Oh where oh where
has my Little Muse gone?
oh where oh where can she be?
She's having a break
but she won't be long,
she'll be back to spoil my tea.

In the middle of night
and inopportune times
she comes and whispers to me.
My Ex once asked
"Who's this other wench,
you hear when you should be with me?"

(Sometimes a daft little verse, of no real consequence but some entertainment value, just pops into your head fully formed.  I suspect this is what even the most serious bespectacled and power-suited Muses do to you when they're just playing silly buggers.  Mine has never been that serious in the first place.)

An apt description of the willful and wayward muse Gyppo.  ;)

A daft little verse it may be Gyppo, but it still entertains.

Hi gyppo, mine is not so much daft as annoying, visits me regularly and at times inspires
but by the time my feet have hit the floor its gone leaving me frustrated.

whatever time  she comes:

don't abuse the muse she is usually of some use  when she is on the loose and if you aren't careful you will lose  ;D

Mine is normally an industrious little soul, so I don't begrudge her the occasional break.  She usually seems to benefit from her short holidays.

I have this vision of a Health Farm or Spa for muses, where they escape to a completely author-free environment and just stuff themselves with food or listen to music, or whatever they like, until the idle life of a lotus eater gets to them and they suddenly feel the need to harness themselves to a keyboard again through the rather clumsy medium of an author.

From a fella who thinks
his muse is a minx
who lures and teases
and now and then pleases,
who loves to display
and then puts them away
but sometimes gives you
a good seeing to
this story though flimsy
has enjoyable whimsy.

It's always good to have a little fun alongside more serious writing.  It's all too easy to start taking everything too seriously and kill the spark which probably brought you to writing in the first place.

Balance in everything.  That's the secret.

That's just lovely - I've got a smile on my face and is that not the perfect reaction?  :)
