Definitely an addict.  Look out for shady characters selling plot prompts.  They can often be found hanging around writer's circles ;-)

Seriously, if you suddenly go into hyperdrive and knock out a dozen or so don't enter more than one into the contest.  It splits your votes.  Which, although not as painful as it may sound, reduces your chance of winning.

But, if you find you're on a roll get them written, and look for markets later.  Maybe after some tweaking a bit further down the line.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

Now that you're hooked, when you sit down to write one, try to do one thing in your story that has never been done before. I'm not saying you'll succeed in finding that jewel, with all the wonderful things writers have done through the ages, but sometimes thinking like that is the key to opening your imagination to those fun twists.

Like in heist movies, the robber canít very well walk out the front door carrying the painting Ö or can they?

The jewel thief that addresses the package to Detective Schnard and then arrives the next day as a carrier to retrieve this package while the investigations team is still there taking pictures of the empty vaultÖ.

You put me on the spot to stand behind my words and now Iím coming up lame but hopefully this kinda shows what I mean.

But now apply this same thinking to the blind girl or whatever the subject at hand is.

Alfie, you want more?  ;D

Easy, take a look at the pictures hanging on your walls or magazines . . . just pictures where ever you find them.

Really look at them, what's going on the minute after what the scene shows you. Are there people in the picture? What are they like, why are they there and where will they be going next.

One of my favorite, originally a flash but grew to a short, that developed from this involved a young boy that wasn't even seen in the picture but I felt he "lived" there and would be doing business for his mother (also not seen) at the Big Red Bank that was in the picture.

Just turn you imagination loose and see where it takes you.

Thanks Alice. Love the avatar ;)

My problem is getting going. Once I'm going I'm Okay so this would really work for me.

Thanks for the advice.

:)
I started flash with a game that I played with other writers in a chat-room based thing. Someone gives you a prompt and you have 1 minute to prepare, and 5 minutes to write on that prompt, then you have to show everyone what you wrote.
There were some alternatives like "you have 20 minutes to write 20 lines of poetry, or 200 words of prose with __________ as a prompt"
Very fun stuff.
