Something I wrote for a friend before he ran in the Grandma's Marathon.

The Everlasting Run Or A Marathonerís Story

And still I ran, breathing heavily, smacking my arms and shoulders on every random appendage of every nondescript being.  Why am I still running?  WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!  It makes no sense.  Iíve been running for so long.  It is essentially pointless by now.  Iíve nearly forgotten why I began.  No, waitÖno I havenít forgotten, and I realize that I must keep running. I will keep running. I WILL! I WILL! I WILL! For them, for all of them.  I must keep going, for I am but a quarter of the way done, and I will finish.  I have promised so many that I will finish.  I must finish for them.  I WILL KEEP GOING.  I will finish this.  At the end, I will reflect, for it was all for naught.  Eight hours.  Maybe next year.
