Like an old girlfriend once said of me: Still waiting for the fireworks.

Did she not see the irony of the question? (irony seems to be my catchphrase today)  ;D

We sure are as similar as we are solid
and we are all 99.9999999999999% empty space
the real world is full of voids
so there's lots of room for shit or God
and you can't fill a cavity that size with the good stuff,

Dear Mr. Rev. Drab, I am asking this sincerely, I swear... (a lot)...which is the 'good stuff'? ;D

Hey Drab---you ever read this one by one of your countrymen---one of the best:

http://www.amazon.com/Quantum-Evolution-Weirdest-Explains-Paperback/dp/0393323102

On my way to San Francisco.

Thanks indar.
Looks like an interesting book. Does poor old Darwin get a bashing?
The book is 12 years old, has it had any real impact?
The way the quantum world affects biological systems isn't something that ever crossed my mind to be honest. I'm intrigued now.
Should I put this on my 2012 list?

Hi Susan,
Busy day today, I'll be back.  :)

It looks like Mark has left the forum.
What a shame. He was a valued member as far as I am concerned.

Fear not, Sparky. Mark will be back. With a different name, perhaps and a Groucho mustache and Ron Paul eyebrows, but back nonetheless. They always return to the scene of the crime.  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D

Iv'e never done that Don, when I piss off I am usually too steamed to return.
I hope you're right though. If his disguise is transparent we must all pretend to
look the other way. ;)

By all means put it on your 2012 list I'm fairly certain its still relevant and the hadron collider may have produced some evidence to support this guy's ideas.

I agree with Sparks, sorry to see Mark go and hope he does return.

Susan,
The good stuff is simply that. We tend to concentrate on the negative. If I go for a walk (I live on the foothills of the Three Rock Mountain) and talk to my wife afterwards, more often than not I'll complain about something instead of recalling the nicer aspects of my walk.
We could 'fill the cavity' with good stuff, but it would be difficult. We live our lives like a music video, everything is rushed, we need instant gratification. We want far more than we need, and we want it now. The good stuff is there but I think we have lost the ability to appreciate it.
End of sermon.  :D
Regards

Thanks indar,
Is he waiting for the Higgs boson as well?
I'd say there are a few physicists out there who hope it'll never be found.  ;)

Hi drab,

its kind of like working in an art gallery.  Every day we may walk past beautiful treasures
but all we can relate to is our sore feet. ;)

I agree the "good stuff' is out there, we just forget to see it.

There is a new theory that kind of combines these two conversations.

Supposedly...now...the Universe is like a loaf of bread. All the holes in the loaf are different sizes and shapes, etc The bread material is the mass that is in the Universe, intertwined with dark matter (or non-matter, something like that...that are  the holes in the bread.

So, anyway, all the holes are supposed to represent the empty space in 'Space' AKA the NEW DARK MATTER! all the void in the sky that we see around all the stars actually contains something....it's not empty space.

And.....And....they found out about this through the tests done by quantum matter/physics  Profs, get that, eh?!

The ones studying the smallest things (splitting atoms hello, what? how can you do that?, You all told me that the atom, with it's little protons and shit were the smallest, smallest thing in the Universe. Now you've got nanotrons and shit!

I swear, swear, swear, this is what I saw on the Science channel. And I also swear that I am too old to use recreational drugs anymore. The prescribed ones are pretty good, though.

Thanks to you guys/gals/all

Susan

PS: Damm, I love ellipses, have you noticed that? I just did.

Freaky...

or....maybe I just like the pause effect of the dot, dot, dot, ya know?

Sorry to triple dip, but maybe if its all crap, there really is a whole lot of anti-crap or dark crap around the crap.

Please forgive me for joking about an obviously serious  matter, Mark..(did I just say that?)

But everyone who leaves is just moving on, imho

Susan,
Strange the way old ideas keep resurfacing in different guises. The old idea of an ether was replaced by a vacuum, but seems to be making a comeback as the Higgs Field.
