Sunsets are big out here. I wish I could photograph the stars for you all. Its like fairy lights, the milky way never looked so bright.

If someone had a full size copy of these last two shots(say in their email or something)  ;) ;)  I can see the cover art for a book in them.

Lots of old windmills in the outback and most of them are disconnected. Seems odd we are turning to the wind for power but disconnecting it for water.  ???

Cool beans, I'll play with a few crop jobs and send the slides back to you. I like how the treeline is silhouetted (spelling ??) with the sky shine coming through the branches.

I did zoom in and get a shot above the vans as well but he wanted the hard drive before I could upload.  :D

Got a few campfire shots now but I guess you don't need them anymore do you.  ;D

Hey Woody, nice to see you mate.  :D

I have to get a macro lens I think, would make a big difference to some of the close ups.  ;)

Yeah, I haven't been around MWC much lately. Planning for the Big Trip (mostly finding apartment accommodation) took my evening computer time, so I only had time to pop in briefly.... Glad to see you're on a holiday yourself. Looks very relaxing. Loving your photos.   :) :)

I know you love your photography. It's a hobby of mine also. What kind of camera do you have? I upgraded before my trip to a Canon EOS 550D, if that means anything to you. Although I love my macro, I didn't buy a separate macro lens (too much money when already spending thousands on the trip  :P), but instead a fixed 50mm lens and a set of magnifying filters. I haven't had a chance to really play with the filters yet (didn't need macro to photograph the Eiffel Tower etc), but so far I'm really pleased with the 50mm lens for close-up, even without the filters, as it goes down to f1.8 and you can get a beautifully narrow depth of field.

See you soon.
K

Woody we have the 500D mate, bought it before our trip last year. I bought macro extensions but I have no idea what they do.  ::)

I did get a wide angle lens, but I haven't used it either, I might play with it tomorrow.

Have you been on the trip yet mate, I haven't caught up a lot on here in the last few weeks, just when I get a bit of service.  :D

Yes, FF, we were away for 3 weeks in May. Been back over 5 weeks now - hard to believe, as it's flown by. Probably this is because my boy has just started school and it's a new life for us, adjusting to this routine, my girl is toilet training and talking like a trooper, and I'm trying to catch up on all the jobs I didn't get done before we left (while planning/organising the trip). I've been meaning to post some photos for those interested, but I took nearly 1,500, so it feels like a huge job to sort through them for the best ones and reduce the file size to post.

We went to Paris, London (where 2 of my sisters live), and Edinburgh (where my sister had her wedding), and essentially had a family reunion with Mum and all my sisters (there are 6 of us) all together for the first time since 1994. It was tiring travelling with the two little ones, but we had a great time overall.
